The Holiday Lights on the Bridges of the Venice Canals

If you need to lift your spirits, head to the Venice Canals in the early evening to see the holiday lights that adorn the bridges. While many of the homes also feature Christmas decorations, there is something special about the glow of the bridges as they arch over the water.

We got a chance to see the bridges as the holiday lights started to go up. It coincided with the Venice Canals Boat Parade. As the sun set on the floats, the lights rose on the bridges. The joyful spectacle so enchanted us that we even took the long way back with a friend to see more.

If you have already visited the bridges this year, you may want to return. I hear that not all of them were finished and that more are now illuminated. Plus, you can always leave another note on the Wishing Tree bridge.

Sadly, I missed the Candy Cane Bridge, but we did leave a note for Santa in the mailbox. I’d love an opportunity to return, but the odds are slim as we get closer to Christmas and Hanukkah and our schedule gets busier. Still, if I get back, I’ll add some updates.

How is your town celebrating the season? Do you have any holiday lights that draw you back year after year?
