Every spring the elephant seals put on a show at Piedras Blancas rookery. Even when the rain is coming down, it is worth stopping to see these wonderful animals playing, sleeping, fighting and barking.
The elephant seals never fail to put a smile on my face even when I’m in the foulest of moods. There’s something wonderful about them, and judging by the crowds that stop to see them even when it rains, I’m not alone in that.
If you’ve been reading the blog for long, you know that we love going up to Cambria/San Simeon. In fact, it has become part of our anniversary rituals. The whole area is so relaxing and beautiful – from the rolling waves to the vibrant acres in the nature preserve, it is mesmerizing.
While we change up our activities in Cambria, there are a couple of things that have become staples. The first is obviously stopping at Linn’s in downtown Cambria for some incredible pie. But the second has become a stop at the Piedras Blancas Rookery.
